Wildlife, especially endangered species, are the special topic of Regina Woeste`s art work. Climate change is reflected in her "Thin Ice Circle", most pominently represented by the Polar bear, a species captured in many of her paintings.
Regina Woeste is a physician by training, born 1962 in Germany. For many years she has been living and working in Ulan Bator, Mongolia, and Cape Town and Pretoria in South Africa. Extensive travels through the light flooded landscapes of Central Asia and most of the African countries are reflected in her work. Combining elements of figurative painting of the new German school with abstractions in composition and the arrangement of bright colours Regina Woeste developed her own, unique style.
2006 to 2008 Regina Woeste had a studio on Manhattan in New York City before moving back to Germany. She is now painting at the Potsdamer Platz in the heart of Berlin, Germany.
